NEW MERCH DROPPING NEW YEARS DAY

The Washte Life

The Washte Life Apparel was founded in 2017, initially started with one-design t-shirt before expanding to include new designs in the collection. The brand's primary mission is to inspire language and mixers by combining Indigenous words and English.

The word 'washte' means good in the Nakoda language, and it took some time for the founder to figure out the correct spelling for it. However, a video on YouTube by Late Russell Means, a Native American rights activist of Oglala Lakota Sioux descent, helped clarify the matter. In the video, Means explained that there is no right or wrong way to write indigenous words in English since English is not our first language. Encouraged by this perspective, the founder decided to spell it "Washte" the way it is spelt.

The reason behind choosing the name 'The Washte Life' is that life is precious. Every new day is a gift from the creator, and it is important to enjoy the little things in life, live in the present, and work towards a better future. We value our loved ones, our friends, and our community. Also taking pride in our culture and traditions.

We named our clothing brand "The Washte Life" or "The Good Life" because we believe that true happiness comes from experiences and moments. We wanted our brand to reflect the importance of living life to the fullest and cherishing every moment as Indigenous People. We are still here!
